JEE Advanced Started.

The JEE Advanced is one of the toughest and most prestigious engineering entrance exams in India. It is the gateway to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and a few other top institutes.


🔹 What is JEE Advanced?

JEE Advanced is the second stage of the Joint Entrance Examination system. Only students who qualify JEE Main are eligible to appear for it.


🔹 Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be among the top candidates in JEE Main (cutoff changes yearly).
  • Can attempt maximum 2 times in consecutive years.
  • Must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

🔹 Exam Pattern

  • Conducted once a year (usually May–June).
  • Fully computer-based test (CBT).
  • Consists of 2 papers (Paper 1 & Paper 2) — both compulsory.
  • Subjects:
    • Physics
    • Chemistry
    • Mathematics
  • Questions include:
    • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
    • Numerical value-based questions
    • Match-the-following / comprehension-type

🔹 Difficulty Level

  • Considered much harder than JEE Main.
  • Focuses on:
    • Deep conceptual understanding
    • Analytical thinking
    • Problem-solving speed and accuracy

🔹 Participating Institutes

Mainly used for admission into:

  • Indian Institutes of Technology
  • Some other institutes like:
    • IISc Bangalore
    • IISERs (via separate channels sometimes)

🔹 Syllabus

Similar to JEE Main but more advanced and application-based:

  • Physics: Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Optics, Modern Physics
  • Chemistry: Physical, Organic, Inorganic
  • Math: Algebra, Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Trigonometry

🔹 Ranking & Admission

  • Rank is based on combined marks of Paper 1 + Paper 2.
  • Admission is done through JoSAA counseling.

Registration for JEE Advanced 2026 is open from April 23 to May 2, 2026 (23:59 IST) for top JEE Main qualifiers. Candidates must register themselves to appear for the exam. Exam will be conducted on different centers all over India and in few abroad places.

Candidates must register online at the official portal, jeeadv.ac.in.

Fees- Rs. 3,200 (General) or Rs.1,600 (Female/SC/ST/PwD) by May 4, 2026.

The exam is a computer-based test scheduled for May 17, 2026, comprising two papers.

  1. Visit the official website: jeeadv.ac.in.
  2. Log in using your JEE Main 2026 application number and password.
  3. Fill in the required details, choose examination cities (up to three), and verify personal information.
  4. Upload required documents (Class 10th/12th certificates, category certificate if applicable) in PDF format.
  5. Pay the registration fee.
  6. Submit and download the confirmation page.

  • Performance in JEE Main 2026: Candidates must be among the top 2.5 lakh candidates (including all categories).
  • Age Limit: Candidates must be born on or after October 1, 2001. A five-year relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates (born on or after October 1, 1996).
  • Class 12th Appearance: Candidates must have appeared for the Class 12th (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2025 or 2026.
  • Earlier Admission to IITs: Candidates who have been admitted to an IIT, even if they didn’t continue, are not eligible. 

Indian Nationals (General/OBC): ₹3,200
Female Candidates (All Categories): ₹1,600
SC, ST, and PwD Candidates: ₹1,600
Foreign Nationals/SAARC: USD 100
Foreign Nationals/Non-SAARC: USD 200
