Improving spelling can be fun and effective if you use a mix of activities that work for your brain.
Here are some Spelling activities for Kids to get better at spelling words:

🧠 1. Learn by Seeing, Saying, and Writing
• Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check method:
1) Look at the word carefully.
2) Say it aloud slowly.
3) Cover it with your hand or paper.
4) Write it from memory.
5) Check and correct mistakes.
• Repeat 2–3 times until you can spell it without looking.
🖊 2. Break Words into Parts
• Split long words into syllables or sound chunks.
e.g.
1) beau-ti-ful,
2) in-ter-est-ing.
• This makes it easier to remember the order of letters.
🎨 3. Use Visual Tricks
• Colour-code tricky letters (ex: friend – circle “i” to remember “i comes before “e”).
• Write words in colours or big bold letters to make them memorable.
• Draw a picture or circle around the word that reminds you of its meaning.
🎲 4. Play Spelling Games
• Play online games like Spelling Bee or Choose the correct spelling.
• Make flashcards with words on one side and definitions/pictures on the other.
• Do a spelling race: say a word, set a timer, and try to spell it quickly and correctly.

• Clap or tap out the sounds of the word while saying it.
• Make up a funny rhyme or song.
